Missing Number
Scoring over 600
In missing number you must know your basic multiplication table and know basic adding and subtracting, if you are a little rusty you should get it memorized. You should only use the num pad for entering the answers this will save you tons of time. Most of the questions that appear are very similar like 48/6 or 48/(7-1) so you have to start learning these answers like you know 5*5. You can avoid getting wrong answers by simply hitting the delete key if you don’t see the tic mark immediately and trying a new answer. If you sort of know what an answer is say you think it’s 40 something you can quickly try all the answers in the 40 range, you push the 4 then 1, delete, 2, delete, 3, delete, and so on till you get the questions right. Remember not to waste time waiting for it to be correct, if it is it will immediately give you a green check mark.
Scoring over 1000
Now that you have the basics you should work on how to identify certain questions very fast. As you answer more questions the answers will also progressively get larger and larger starting in 20s to 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and so on. This can help you for more basic questions like in example one of what the first number will be. Here are some examples of questions and how you should approach them.Ex. 1) 68-19=?
These type of questions should be trivial for you and should not take up much time. You see that the 19 is almost 20 and 20 less of 68 is 48 but because it’s only 19 you have 49.
Ex. 2) (49-12)+31=?
A slightly harder question but you should do the different operators in the order in which the numbers are the easiest for you to sound off. Rather than thinking 49-12=37+31=68 it can be easier to approach them like, 49+31=80-12=68. Just doing similar operations together like addition and addition it can be easier to solve. Or another method of doing them is doing the last 2 numbers like 31-12=19+49=68. What you have to do is find the easiest way of solving these problems in your head.
Ex. 3) 68/4=?
You will encounter a lot of problems that are like this. First you must recognize that the answer is going to be between 15 and 20 since you know that 4*15=60 and 4*20=80. And from there it should be simple to see that the answer. Later it is helpful to start learning these questions by memory like 6*6=36
Ex. 4) 583/11=?
When dividing by 11 you know that the answer will end with the same number that is 3 in the example and the first number will either be the first number 5 or one less. Look at the 83 from the full number 583, if this is greater than 20 the first number will be the 5 if it is less it will be one less which is 4. This is a quick and easy way to solve these questions.
Most questions you have to somewhat memorize like your basic multiplication table.
Missing Sign
Scoring over 600
The first thing to consider in missing sign is which method you are going to use for entering the answers and to stick with it. Although it may seem simple to enter the answers to enter the answers with the mouse this can become very slow the faster you get. The overall preferred method of entering the answers is with the 1 2 3 4 keys on the key bar because they appear in the order the signs are on the screen which is easier for the brain to adapt to. The last option is using the + – / and * keys although these keys are not located in a very friendly order or placement on the keyboard. Now the first thing you need to know is you do not need to solve out the questions completely. The game is all about estimating what sign would be the most logical. For example
Ex.1) 24_2=12
So what see is a big number it could be anything and a 2 and a number that is less than the first number so the most logical thing to select is either divide or subtract and because the number is 2 it is going to be most logically divide. The same principal applies for questions like 66_6=11 or any general large number_ single digit number= smaller number.
Ex.2) 4_22=88
Again this is a very similar problem you have a small number and another small number and a large number. So logically the sign must make the 2 numbers large which limits it down to + and *. Now you notice that the number increases substantially so again the only logical answer is *
For larger problems like
Ex.3) (6+4)_4=40
You will use the same method as is Ex 2. But treat the (6+4) as one general medium to small number.
Ex.4) (105-22)_25=58
These questions can seem large at first but they are very simple you start out with a very large number 105 and do something to it which happens to be -22 then missing sign and another number with an answer of 58. What you need to notice is that 58 is much smaller than 105 by almost 50 points which means that adding would probably only make the number large which only leaves subtracting as the most logical solution.
Finally there are the trick problems that you do have to solve out
Ex. 5) 22 – (8_2)=16
It is very difficult to estimate these problems because you will limit it down to – or / but there is only a 2 point difference making both answers very close. You have two option either solve the problem out or guess it with a 50% chance of getting it right.
After going through some simple typical problems you can see it’s all done by basic estimates and just picking the answer that makes the most logical sense. It is crucial that you don’t solve the problem but follow those basic principals with only solving out a few which require it.
Scoring over 1000
You must follow the same basic principal on estimating the answers described previously but there are some more advanced rules you must know. These are obtained by practicing and starting to learn what common solutions are
Rule…
1) Anything xx_2 will be / unless the number is 8 10 or 12 which it can also be /.
2) In the starting rounds (3_3) and (4_4) will always be + and later be *. You must get a feel for when this change appears in your games
3) Problem is brackets such as (8_4) or (3_6) at the start are always + and again later will switch to * when the bracket equation in being effected by a + or –
4) (9_2), (12_3), (16_4) are always -.
5) (1_2), (1_3) are always * expect at the very beginning and the answer is around 4 or 5.
6) (1_4), (5_2) is always *
7) (20 to 35 _ ( single digit number ) ) is subtract
(20 to 35 _ ( 2 digit number ) ) is most of the time addition
These are just a few of the basic problem which are most commonly encountered. But to really master the missing sign game you must learn logic like this for almost every type of problem.
But remember you don’t have to look exactly what the numbers are you just need to know generally what range they are and solve the question from there. You actually don’t even need the answers almost all the problems expect the ones at the start can be solved without knowing what the answer is. So for example you only need to see (203-32)_70= and should be able to figure out the answer. To try this out you can simply cover up the answers with tape or shrink your internet screen so it doesn’t show. For practice it’s you can speed up by answering questions at a very fast speed that is uncomfortable where you get 10-20% of them wrong. This will teach your eyes and brain to react faster and you will start to get more and more right in practice mode. Then after practicing this method for a while slow down to a more comfortable speed and you may notice that you get more answers in with good accuracy without trying as hard.
Card Pairs
Scoring over 600
In the card pairs game accuracy is the main key here. If you do make an error it takes up a lot of time costing you the possibility to get many more right answers. So the first thing to remember is don’t rush yourself when memorizing the cards. Pair the cards in your mind and then have the idea of what path they are going to take. If you map out the path in your head of which pairs you are going to click off you will be able to click them off faster than if you were trying to remember after they are flipped over. And always pair off the cards that are right next to each other, these are easy to remember and take little time to pair off. Also you should know that alike pairs of cards never switch with each other so if you forget the last pair don’t match the 2 that flipped with each other choose one that didn’t move and one that did more and you might get lucky.Scoring over 1000
To reach 1000 or close to 1000 is very tough you need incredible speed and can’t afford to get one wrong. For the first rounds flip over the cards as soon as possible you are going to need this time for the later rounds which are harder. Once you start to hit the 5 pairs of cards you may have to slow down just slightly but if you have a planned out path like I stated previously you should be able to click of the cards very quickly. You should always try to click the cards off with the same mouse movement it’s easier to click them off faster if you use all up and down movements or all left to right movements.Avoid pairing off cards that are moving. If you try to often you click on the cards that are moving around the screen this will lose you time and cause you to click the wrong cards at some time. If you just leave them be most of the time they will just switch back and forth with each other which makes it a lot easier to distinguish then if they had switched with many other cards or are now under another card. Although you can take advantage of different pairs of cards moving by clicking of certain pairs you can influence which cards will move and get the pairs next to each other. This can mainly be achieved by first clicking off the pairs that are next to each other and seeing what the possibilities of the others cards moving where are.
You really only have to remember 3 of the 5 pairs in the later rounds and just one of the other cards. Knowing how this works will save you a lot of time not having to completely memorize the full set. So first you have 3 card pairs clicked off and there are 4 cards remaining. You only know what one of them is. What you do is separate the cards into 2 groups of 2 the ones that just moved and the ones that didn’t. Now say your cards was in the group that didn’t move, click on one of the moving cards if that card is the one that matches the one that you remembers pair it off and your done, if not pair it with the other non moving card and you will be done to. This works the same if your card happened to be a moving card, click one of the non moving cards if it matches pair it off if it doesn’t match it with the other moving card.
Shape Order
Scoring over 600
To start scoring over 600 in this game you should be saying the items out loud. This will make it 100Xs easier than trying to remember them in your head. Some of the items are odd but you should just make up a name for them of the first thing that comes to mind. If you have trouble finding a name for an object name it by color, in the same sets of objects there are not very many items with the same color. Don’t rush have the objects disappear to enter the answers, make sure you have said them clearly to yourself then click the screen. When entering them recite the items again out loud because you have just said all their names you will tend to say them again in the same order. Finally when you do click the screen to make the shapes at the top disappear so you can start entering them in their correct order don’t click in the same area the possible answers appear in, try to either click below or above. If you do click where they are it will select and answer and most likely you will get it wrong. Finally this is the one mini game which you can’t have the T.V. or have music playing it will distract you far more than any other mini game.Scoring over 1000
First you must have short names for the items preferably one syllable. Look at where they are appearing in the center of the screen when naming them out. For the starting rounds click the screen as soon as you see the last item, if you are doing this correctly the last box should be bigger, this will save you some time. When the rounds start to hit 6 and above it can become easier to remember them in 2 sets of 3 and 3 or you can remember 5 objects together and the last one separately. To determine where you should remember these splits its usually the easiest when you see a repeat of another object, so you see 1 “pink” and then 2 other objects then another “pink” this is a good time to split them into 2 sets in your head. Try to use words that are one syllable even if thery arn’t related to the object but work on when seeing these shapes having the word jump right into your head. Say these words in your head to at this point, if you try to say 7 objects out loud it will cost you to much time. Finally you just need to work on mouse speed/control and not clicking the wrong objects unintentionally.Asteroids
Scoring over 600
This game is easy to get points when you starting to playing but doesn’t provide enough points later in the game. Well when starting off you want to make sure you complete the rounds with accuracy because its unique in this game you lose the same amount of points for wrong answers as you gain for right answers. You also lose time due to having a new round of asteroids show up and the time you lose from having to first identify the asteroids. If you are getting more than a couple asteroids wrong you are going too fast for yourself. The basic approach of this game is to group negative numbers together as one section and positive numbers in the other section. Then click off the negative numbers and then the positive numbers in the correct order. For the numbers you must know you alphabet, this is why kindergarten was so important. Separate the letters in to two section again a-l and m-z this is usually fairly easy split of the letters again you figure out the order of the small ones then the large ones and click them off.
Scoring over 1000
The main way to increase your score is to identify the asteroids faster which just comes from practice. To increase your speed you have to click the asteroids off very fast once they are identified and not waste time moving the mouse from one asteroids to the next. Also you should have your alphabet further broken up into groups of 3-5 letters. The same should be done with the numbers, for positive numbers group them into small numbers such as 1-20 and large numbers 50-90 along with the negative number of -1, -20 and -40, -60. Click them off in small planned out groups start with your -40, -60 then -1, -20 then 1-20. You will have identified these groups very quickly but may not be sure which order the numbers should be clicked off in. What you must do is figure out which order the first group should be clicked off in and as you are doing this figure out which order the next group should be clicked off in. The key here is to have you moue movements planned out so you can do the clicks without looking at the asteroids you are clicking off.Jigsaw
Scoring over 600
For the jigsaw the main way to tell apart the pieces is by color. So it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the view of completed puzzles. Focus on figuring out which color the area is that the piece is missing and then go find the piece on the bottom. You quickly eliminate the pieces that are the wrong color and only a have a few to choose from. Also you can identify the pieces by the sides and what color those sides are being bottom top or sides which are all very different. This will give you a good start in separating the pieces into subcategories.Scoring over 1000
When you start getting higher scores you must mainly focus on breaking the pieces down into further subcategories of about of 2-5 pieces were you know those are the only ones that can possibly fit in the area and just have to choose from them. At this point you should be very familiar with the puzzle and be able to focus more on the missing pieces rather than the puzzle itself. Try to maintain most of your focus on the missing pieces at the bottom and catch the puzzle in your peripheral vision or quickly glance up at it. The pieces progressively get smaller as the rounds progress and they put in more missing pieces. This is very difficult to adjust to at first because they are no longer in proportion of the puzzle and takes some time to get use to but is the main reason you should focus on the bottom pieces so you can identify which ones they are faster. In a further break down of the puzzle pieces you have to recognize that in the wind mill and dragon pictures the side edge pieces are lighter then the top ones which are always a solid blue with clouds in. Start to be able to identify the pieces that border other objects on the edge to because they will have a slight edge of the bordering color on them; such as the green to blue in the golf puzzle or the red piece under the persons are in the windmill one. In any puzzle you should be able to it down into 10 sections or if you get advanced enough to more sections or even down to individual pieces.
In a further advanced way to approach the puzzle it becomes evident that there are only 3 wrong pieces put into every puzzle which can play to your advantage to in later rounds of 5 6 or 7 missing pieces. Because of this it can be easier to see that 2 or 3 of the pieces don’t fit in the puzzle and just click off the rest. This can be done when its very obvious when there are 2 or 3 bottom pieces that stand out but no pieces in the puzzle that are missing from the bottom. You can click off all the rest of the pieces when you see this occurrence which can save you a lot of time.
